Part 4 - The Waiting Game

I’ve been quiet the past several weeks. Not for lack of enthusiasm, but there just hadn’t been a whole lot of progress to report.

Since my last entry, there has been an awful lot of waiting. However, things have begun heating up. I signed our lease agreement on March 14th. Demolition and renovations on the new office space began March 29th. I got to walk through the newly framed layout with my landlord on April 6th. Immediately he tasked me with selecting from an array of available flooring, cabinet, door, and countertop options. As I left the site, our drywall was being delivered. I suspect it will be unrecognizable the next time I get a chance to walk through it.

It’s funny how dizzying the pace of change can be. One moment you feel frustrated that things remain hopelessly at a standstill. The next, your head is spinning because it’s all happening so fast it seems like you can’t possibly keep up. It’s exhilarating. It’s exhausting. It’s scary at times. But most of all it just feels right, and strangely overdue. No more waiting. We’re doing this.

Much more to come.

For now, here’s a very dull sneak preview of our floor plan:
